Something Stinks in the Mainstream Press

Photo: E&C Photos

So the New York Times this past Sunday came up with the novel idea of writing a story about what people are reading on the subway. Wow, great concept. I wonder, did they come up with that by themselves? I suppose it's just a coincidence that I've been chronicling what J,M,Z train riders have been reading for over a year now in my Books on The J,M,Z posts.

But this is minor compared to what's been going on with Greenpoint blogger and citizen journalist, Miss Heather, and the New York Post. The Post not only admits to stealing the news stories which she broken on her blog, New York Shitty, and not crediting her work - but unashamedly says they will continue to do so in the future, saying it's not theirs or the New York Daily New's policy to credit bloggers. Although, to give the NY Times some credit, unlike the other presses they have, in fact, credited bloggers which means my idea 'theft' could actually be just a coincidence.

So come on fellow bloggers, unite! What can we do about Miss Heather's and many others, grave injustice?

I wonder if considering the battles mainstream media is having with bloggers who take whole articles and repost uncredited, they are simply feeling entitled to blogger's intellectual properties? thoughts?
